By accessing or using Cosmo Learns ("the Platform", "the Service", "we", "us"), you agree to be bound by these Terms & Conditions ("Terms") and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use our platform.

These Terms apply to:

• Parents and guardians who create and manage accounts ("Parent Users")
• Children who use the platform under a parent's account ("Child Users")
• All users of cosmolearns.ca and any related applications

Cosmo Learns uses a parent-first account model. Only parents or legal guardians may register for an account. Child accounts are created and managed exclusively through a parent account.

By creating a child account, you:

• Confirm you are the parent or legal guardian of the child
• Consent to the collection and use of your child's information as described in these Terms and our Privacy Policy
• Agree to supervise your child's use of the platform
• Accept responsibility for ensuring your child uses the platform appropriately

Cosmo is powered by Claude, an AI model developed by Anthropic. The AI is configured specifically for educational use with children in Grades 3–9. Understanding how the AI works helps you use the platform safely.

Important limitations of AI you should know:

• AI can occasionally produce incorrect information ("hallucinations") — always encourage your child to verify important facts
• AI is not a substitute for a qualified human teacher or tutor
• AI is not a counsellor, therapist, or mental health resource
• AI cannot call for help in an emergency — if your child is in danger, call 911

We take children's privacy extremely seriously. We collect only what is necessary to deliver the tutoring service.

We do NOT collect:

• Home address, phone number, or school name
• Photos, videos, or biometric data
• Precise geolocation data
• Device fingerprinting or advertising identifiers
• Data for behavioural advertising purposes
• Any data from children without prior parental consent

Your rights as a parent:

• Access all data we hold about your child at any time
• Correct inaccurate information
• Delete your child's account and all associated data
• Withdraw consent and close your account at any time
• Request a copy of your data in a portable format

Cosmo Learns offers both free and paid subscription tiers. All billing is handled securely through Stripe.

Billing terms:

• Subscriptions renew automatically on a monthly or annual basis
• You may cancel at any time — cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period
• No refunds are issued for partial months
• Annual plans may be eligible for a pro-rated refund within 14 days of purchase — contact us
• We reserve the right to change pricing with 30 days notice to your registered email
• Failed payments will result in downgrade to the Free plan after a 7-day grace period

Cosmo Learns is an educational tool. By using the platform, you agree that neither you nor your child will:

• Attempt to manipulate or "jailbreak" the AI into producing inappropriate content
• Use the platform for any purpose other than education
• Share account credentials with non-family members
• Submit false information, including misrepresenting a child's age or grade
• Attempt to circumvent any safety features or content filters
• Use the platform in violation of any applicable law
• Reverse engineer, copy, or resell any part of the platform

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms without refund.

Educational tool — not professional advice: Cosmo Learns provides AI-generated educational content. It is not a substitute for qualified teachers, tutors, mental health professionals, or medical advisors. Do not rely on Cosmo for professional advice of any kind.

AI accuracy: AI-generated responses may occasionally contain errors. We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or suitability of any AI-generated content. Always encourage your child to verify important information from authoritative sources.

Service availability: We strive for high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted service. Scheduled maintenance, outages, or third-party service interruptions may occasionally affect availability.

Limitation of liability: To the maximum extent permitted by Canadian law, Cosmo Learns and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the platform. Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 3 months preceding the claim.

We may update these Terms from time to time to reflect changes in law, our services, or our practices. When we make significant changes:

• We will notify you by email at your registered address at least 14 days before the changes take effect
• We will update the "Effective Date" at the top of this page
• Continued use of the platform after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the new terms
• If you do not accept the new terms, you may cancel your account before the effective date
